The Seoul Metropolitan Government will host a “Seoul Foward-Your Next Business Destination” roadshow at the St. Regis Hotel in Hong Kong on Wednesday, July 19, to attract Hong Kong-based global and local companies to Seoul and promote Seoul as an Asian economic hub.
The event will be held in collaboration with the Invest Seoul, a dedicated organization to attract investment in Seoul, and Hong Kong’s leading trade and investment promotion agency, the Hong Kong Trade Development Administration (HKTDC), and companies from various fields interested in entering Seoul will attend.
The city plans to use this roadshow as an opportunity to understand global companies’ intention to relocate their Asia-Pacific headquarters and local companies in Hong Kong to enter Seoul.
In this roadshow, 1:1 customized consulting will be conducted between legal and accounting experts and companies by grasping the questions of companies in advance so that their intention to enter can lead to actual investment. In addition, A keynote speech introduction of the Invest Seoul’s support project seminar for entering Seoul presentation of successful cases of Hong Kong companies entering Seoul will also be organized.
Professor Lee Dong-won of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology explains Seoul’s superior investment environment by comparing the business environment of rival cities and Seoul and shares opinions on the profit-generating effects of foreign companies entering Seoul.
The InvestSeoul, an agency dedicated to attracting investment in Seoul, will take time to introduce investment incentives and support projects provided by foreign-invested companies when they enter Seoul.
The seminar will be held by Shin&Kim Law Firm and Hyesung Accounting Firm, which specializes in FDI, to explain the procedures of overseas corporations’ entry into Korea and Korea’s tax system to enhance their understanding of their entry into Seoul.
There will also be sessions to share the experiences of companies that have already successfully entered Seoul, such as Hong Kong fintech company, Free Technologies.
In addition, Invest Seoul will actively support local companies willing to enter Seoul and sign MOUs with Finex (providing financing services and consulting) and Slowmist (blockchain security service provider).
Through Invest Seoul’s all-in-one package, these companies will receive preliminary market research for entering Seoul, and support for the entire process of entering Seoul, from the corporate establishment to management support such as labor and law, and settlement support such as office lease.
In addition, more than 50 companies will attend the roadshow, including Prenetics Limited, a NASDAQ-listed company that operates the genetic testing service Circledna, and Medialink Group, a Hong Kong stock exchange-listed company specializing in animation and brand license distribution.
Starting with Hong Kong, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will continue its activities to relocate global companies to Asia-Pacific headquarters and attract promising local companies to Seoul. In the second half of the year, a roadshow will be held in Singapore to promote Seoul’s investment environment and continue to find companies willing to enter the market.
“We will continue to promote Seoul’s charm and investment environment and provide customized support for each company so that it can be reborn as an Asian economic center,” said Park Kyung-hwan, a Director-General of New Industry Policy Bureau.
